Messenger (by ashterisk) – a yahoo messenger client

Messenger (by ashterisk) is a yahoo messenger client which just got approved so should be appearing in marketplace soon. The first release is pretty simple and provide basic features of conversations but I am hoping to add some additional features depending on how people like it.

Hi. I installed the trial version of the app however I did notice something. When I close the app, I still appear as online with my friends, which is good. The problem is, when they send me messages while my “Messenger” app is closed, I don’t receive any notification of new messages. In addition, when I launch the app again, I also don’t receive those messages that were sent to me while my app is closed. This is pretty bad since I have no way of knowing who sent me messages while my app is not running. I hope you could enlighten me. Thanks!

    • Hi, when you login, you have option to say “logoff” when exit. that will mark you offline when you exit the app. Regarding not getting notification when the app is not running, this is not possible with out push notification which it doesn;t support currently. Regarding offline messages, you should see them when you launch the app again but there was a but in the v1.0 which I noticed after my submission and thus couldn’t fix. Another update is already in testing with this fix and few other features. You should get the fixes soon.
Thanks for letting me know and thanks for trying.

Thanks for clarifying. I have to credit you for the UI, it looks really awesome. I’ll just wait for the update and hope things will be sorted out.

Hi, I installed the new update of the app on my phone and I’m still experiencing a bug on offline messages. If someone sends you consecutive messages, you won’t get the first message sent. You only get those succeeding messages. I hope it would be fixed on your next update. Other than that, I think it’s a pretty good update. Thanks!

  4. I was wondering if there is going to be a push system implemented sometime soon. The client works great but I have missed many a conversation because I was unaware that someone had sent me a message on messenger. I log into messenger to find that someone had sent me a message two days ago, or an hour ago but never received any kind of notification.
