Need some setup instructions. I can’t figure out the server name. I tried 17.0.0.1 and my default gateway with no luck. I am wating to add a review until I actually get it working. Thanks!!

    • Hi,

The server name is the machine name or IP of your Boxee machine. In the video I was using 127.0.0.1 as that’s the local host and I was running the emulator.

In BOXEE UI, if you go to SETTINGS, SYSTEM and then VERSION, you will see the IP address. Try that in your local network.

You will also need to enable the WebServer by going to SETTINGS, NETWORK and then SERVERS as shown in the video.

You may or may not use password.

I don’t know if its me being stupid, but it isn’t working.

Is this for the boxee box or the windows/linux version?

What should i be entering for the username?

There is no sort of error message being shown or any indication it is connecting so i am pretty lost.

Scratch that, I got it working. I had to change the port it was using.

Its quite sluggish to use and I am seeing commands and text being sent out of order. For example if I type “hello there” into the text box it comes up as “hellho tree” or “hel lother” or something else.

    • Are you using over wifi or 3G/Edge? The way remote works is by making http request to your boxee servers. When you type, its sending each character. If you type fast, its possible.
I will look more info this to see if there is anyway I can improve it. Thanks for the feedback.

This is over WiFi. Have you reached the limits of what is achievable with the Boxee API? Are there any features we can look forward to in the future?

      • there are few more things i am planning to add in the future like gesture mode, now playing info.

Seems to only work with no password. Also text input is a good idea, but over WiFi if you try and type something fast to be sent to the Boxee computer, it comes out all jumbled.

There is too much lag for this to be usable, I’m running it over wifi and simply navigating the menus is too slow, for each button press you have to wait a second for it to register on the screen, bummer.

The app for iOS has been updated so the cursor can be moved around freely and not just in 4 directions.

Will an update be coming for the windows phone 7 app to do the same?

Also will there be a free version?

    Thank you
